* Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtle (Lepidochelys kempii), also known as the Atlantic Ridley sea turtle, is the rarest species of sea turtle and is critically endangered. It is just one of many species that the Riverhead Foundation endeavors to rescue, rehabilitate and release every year as cold-stunned turtles arrive helpless on our beaches in the fall and winter and often die without discovery and response.

Open to runners of all ages.

5 Kilometer Course
The Run starts on Main Street in Riverhead, goes through a quiet residential neighborhood, and finishes on McDermott Avenue.  The Run is timed by Island Timing, USA Track & Field Certified.

Easternmost end of Municipal Parking Lot adjacent to Peconic River.  8:00 am to 9:30 am. Ample parking is available.

Top 3 male and female overall.  Plus, top 3 male and female in the following age categories:
    9 & under                   40 – 49                    
    10 – 14                       50 – 59                     
    15 – 19                       60 – 69                   
    20 – 29                       70 and over                     
    30 – 39                                      

From the East:  Take Route 25 West to downtown Riverhead. Turn left into Municipal Parking Lot at McDermott Avenue.
From the West:  Take LIE (i-495) to Exit 72. Exit and continue east on Route 25 into downtown Riverhead. Turn right into Municipal Parking Lot at McDermott Avenue.

Registration and Cost (3 options)
Early registration is $30.00 if postmarked on or prior to September 30, 2017.
Late registration is $35.00 if postmarked between October 1 and 21, 2017.
Race Day registration is $40.00, payable at the event.

Halloween Costume Contest
Show off your creativity and come dresses to run in your best Halloween costume.

A prize will be given after the race for the best costume.

Commemorative event T-shirt provided to the first 300 registered runners.

The Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation is a rescue and rehabilitation organization that promotes marine conservation. Our mission is to preserve and protect the marine environment through conservation efforts including education and research. As a 501(c)3 non-profit, we are the primary responders for sick or injured seals, sea turtles, dolphins and porpoise, and maintain the only marine mammal and sea turtle rehabilitation center in New York State.
